Background: In the United States women represent nearly 50 percent of students enrolled in architecture programs but only 18 percent of licensed architects. The Missing 32% Project seeks to find out what causes an equity imbalance in the Architecture profession.

Rosa will present the findings from the 2014 Equity in Architecture survey which was just presented at the Equity by Design Symposium. The survey results will explore issues of professional advancement, pursuit of licensure, and how office environments impact retention. They seek to explore the questions: “What are the key factors that hinder advancement and create pinch points? Why do so few women advance to ownership and senior leadership positions in large firms? And, what measures could be taken to promote Equity in Architecture as it relates to hiring, retention, professional growth, leadership, meaning and influence?”
